The property

Wake to sound of the sea in this beautiful apartment which looks out over the stretch of soft golden sands and the Atlantic Ocean. The seaside town of Westward Ho! is vibrant all year round and with every amenity on your doorstep this is a fantastic choice for a family holiday. The 2 mile stretch of beach makes a fabulous day out whether you wish to relax and sunbathe, surf the waves or build sandcastles with the children. There is a pebble ridge which works as a barrier between the beach and Northam Burrows, a wildlife haven and home of the North Devon Royal Golf Club, with horse riding facilities just a little further along. A wide selection of cafes and restaurants are available offering sumptuous delights for every taste bud, whether you enjoy fish and chips or fine
dining, you will be spoiled for choice. A Devon Cream Tea is a must and the locally made, Hockings Ice Cream has to be sampled. Gift shops and amusements and a children's play area on the green all add up to make this an ideal holiday if you wish to park the car and forget it. Should you wish to explore further afield, the market towns of Bideford and Barnstaple are close by offering a good selection of shops, cinema and nightlife for the young at heart. A trip to the cobbled streets of Clovelly is well worth a visit and the fishing town of Appledore with its winding lanes and harbour looking across to Instow is a great place to try your hand at crab fishing. Boat trips are available from Bideford where you can sail across to Lundy Island or take a short cruise along the coastline but don't
forget your camera as you may catch a glimpse of the seals as they follow the boat. Exmoor National Park is within easy driving distance and is a wonderful day out hiking over the moorland and meeting up with some wild ponies. For walking and cycling enthusiasts, the South West coastal path offers miles of trails and some outstanding scenery. And what better way to end a busy day, than to relax on the balcony and watch the sunset over the sea.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
