Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with wood-burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen with Aga for cooking, and dining area and a family shower room. There are two bedrooms upstairs each with doors opening onto a balcony overlooking the river and a further room for storage, the second double with a full size single day bed. Set in the picturesque hamlet of Rockford, Brendon, a location giving you the best of all worlds. With woods, rivers and birdsong for those lazy days, the fabulous National Park of Exmoor to explore or the nearby sandy beaches of North Devon for soaking up the sun or trying your hand at water-sports - this is an ideal choice. If you love walking, there are so many paths and trails to follow, one leading directly from your gate. Plan a walk to Watersmeet where there is a lovely cafe next to the river and plenty of room for the young ones to play and paddle. Try your hand at fishing or maybe a horse ride over the moors. About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Note: Parking is allowed at the pub/restaurant to load and unload, with the parking area further up the road. Access to the cottage is over a footbridge across the river.
