The property

Poised on the bank of the picturesque River Fowey in the heart of charming Lostwithiel, Riverview apartment, with balcony overlooking the water, is an excellent base from which to explore unspoilt beaches and breathtaking countryside. Within 10 minutes drive of the south coast, characterised by secluded beaches and tiny, sheltered coves, Lostwithiel, the ancient capital of Cornwall, boasts restaurants, including Trewithen which has won the Cornwall Tourism Gold Award for Restaurant of the Year 2015/16.

There are also traditional inns and delicious delis all within a few minutes walk.

The carnival in July is a great attraction and fun for all the family. The sandy cove at Polkerris or Readymoney Cove at Fowey is a short drive away, sandy and sheltered overlooking scenic Polruan.

Fowey is idyllic with twisting streets of galleries, curio shops, restaurants and inns huddling down to the waterside, where a fishing or boat trip can be enjoyed.

Lerryn Creek is ideal for hiring canoes and exploring the hidden inlets, and ramblers and dogs will enjoy the coastal and inland footpaths. Riverview, in the Brunel Quays development, is an attractive Grade II listed conversion of railway buildings, with a mooring and slipway for a small boat.

Behind is the picket-fenced railway line.

The duplex apartment is on the first floor, with sitting room and fabulous river views and balcony where you can bask in the sunshine.

The generous kitchen and dining area with triple glazed windows overlook the railway.

The second floor bedroom offers flexibility with a king size bed that converts to twin beds, plus a single bed ideal for a child.

The master bedroom has a luxurious super kingsize bed for guaranteed relaxation. Lanhydrock House is nearby, a late Victorian Country house with extensive gardens and wooded estate, discover Victorian life and make sure you take a stroll around the gardens.

Restormel Castle a great historical feature and a must visit during your stay.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.

Note: One step and ramp up to entrance. Private entrance and a flight of stairs up to first floor.

Note: Minimum stay 5 nights.

Note: Small-medium dogs only.
