One of a small row of quaint coastguard dwellings built in the early 1800's, the aptly named Watchtower Cottage sits facing seaward fronting a neatly lawned garden, overlooking the shore, rock pools and sand and shingle beach below. This is a sheltered beach made of sand and shingle with rock pools at low tide.
A small slip road gives access to the beach for those launching boats.
Downderry lies between two of the most beautiful parts of the South West coastal path.
A short walk will take you to the centre of the village where you will find a local store/post office, a beach shop with pasties, the restaurant 'The Blue Plate' and the renowed 'Inn on the Shore' which offers great food and local ales.
Just a 10 minute drive to the longest zip wire ADRENALINE QUARRY at Menheniot for those thril seekers, 10km Bike Trail through woodland at Lanhydrock National Trust 15 miles away and the monkey sanctuary and Crafthole golf course are within a fifteen minute drive.

Downderry is a small quiet coastal village situated in south east Cornwall. Downderry has a sheltered beach, Post Office and shop, deli, and a cliff top pub and an excellent restaurant, serving quality local food. At low tide it is possible to walk along the beach from Downderry to Seaton, where you will find a family friendly south facing beach and the nearby Seaton Valley Countryside Park and Nature reserve is home to wildlife, including otters and kingfishers and also offers great cycling and walking opportunities. The picturesque working harbours at Looe and Polperro are within an easy driving distance away, and the wonderful stretches of the South West Coast Path in this part of Cornwall take you to rocky coves, dramatic headlands and tales of shipwrecks and smugglers. Further afield is Plymouth, where you will find plenty to see and do, including a marine aquarium, a theatre, large shopping centres and the historic Barbican waterside area.
