Property Description
Positioned amidst fields and woodland just a few miles from the dramatic North Devon coastline this real working farm is an ideal retreat for those seeking peace and tranquillity, an opportunity to experience rural life at its best. You can be in the thick of things at lambing time or relaxing by one of the lakes, casting a line or simply contemplating the local wildlife, where at night time under a canopy of stars unblemished by city lights, an array of nocturnal creatures including owls, foxes and badgers can be watched as they emerge under the security of darkness. Just three miles from this countryside paradise is the glorious expanse of sand at Westward Ho!, and just 5 miles will take you to the delightful quayside village of Appledore, where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet. Here you will find intermixed through the quaint narrow streets and ancient fisherman's cottages, an array of attractive shops and cafes and a fine selection of art galleries. The larger towns of Bideford and Barnstaple are also within easy reach where you can explore their weekly markets. For those who enjoy Golf, this area is home to a number of first rate golf courses including the famous Royal North Devon Golf Club the world's oldest links course and just a few miles away. The Bushel started its life as a grain barn, its timber frame built on stilts still retains much of its original charm. The elevated position provides excellent views from large windows in the open plan living space to enjoy the glorious views across the farmland towards the lakes and beyond. A kitchen area is well equipped with all the modern conveniences and a spacious bedroom to the rear is attractively furnished in oak and benefits from an ensuite shower room. A private patio to the front of the property is ideal for sunny days to relax and even enjoy an alfresco meal. Guests also have use of the large lawn, gardens and barbecue that is shared with the two other holiday cottages on the farm.
