Property Description
The tiny hamlet of Bentwitchen is situated on the southern fringes of Exmoor National Park, with interesting wildlife, spectacular rugged scenery, and prehistoric sites. Exmoor is an ideal location for those seeking a peaceful retreat to relax, whilst walkers will also enjoy the many miles of footpaths that traverse this beautiful landscape. Forming part of an architecturally designed barn conversion adjoining the owner's property, the cottage has been sympathetically restored to complement the stunning surroundings of Exmoor. The property is full of rustic charm, with stripped wooden floors and exposed stone walls that create a restful ambience. The holiday accommodation is arranged over two floors in a reverse style. The open plan living space is perfect for family gatherings and takes in the magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. The large wood burning stove creates a warm focal point in the lounge area and the open plan galley style kitchen, complete with Aga and Belfast sink is arranged at the head of both dining room and lounge ensuring meal times can be a social event for all. Open tread stairs lead down from the living space to three double bedrooms, each with shower rooms. The smallest of the double bedrooms connects to a dressing room with a single bed for use on request. Outside guests can relax on a sunny patio, and are free to wander down towards the valley and stream beyond. South Molton, the nearest town, is 6 miles away and has a local market on Thursday and a farmers market on Saturday. Barnstaple, North Devon's main market town, with its famous Pannier Market and Butchers Row - excellent for both meat and locally caught fish, is within easy reach and offers a range of shopping facilities and other activities. The Poltimore Arms, possibly one of Exmoor's most delightful pubs, is just up the road and is definitely Bentwtichen's 'local'. There is parking for three cars outside the property.
